I am an Assistant Professor at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). I earned my Ph.D. degree in Transportation Planning and Engineering from New York University, working with Professor Kaan Ozbay. I also held a M.S. degree in Civil Engineering from University of Florida, and a B.S. degree from Harbin Institute of Technology in China.
My research originated from a very simple question: Do they (e.g., decision maker, system manager/operator/planner, policy maker) feel what we (e.g., car, truck, pedestrian, cyclist, etc) feel in our daily urban system?
My research interests lie at the crossroads of trustworthy AI and machine learning, reinforcement learning, control theory, simulation, and computer vision, with system-level applications spanning intelligent transportation systems, autonomous vehicles, and cyber-physical systems. My research emphasizes human-system interactions and multi-agent dynamics, examining how these systems respond and adapt when confronted with disruptions such as traffic accidents, construction activities, or natural and human-induced disasters. Through this lens, I aim to advance methods that promote resilience, safety, and efficiencies in complex and rapidly evolving environments.
